What is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice that has been passed down for 5,000 years and is
used to develop mental, physical, and even spiritual well-being. The Sanskrit
word 'Yoga', literally translates as "union."
Here, in the Western world, we primarily focus on the practice of postures
called "asanas" and the breathing techniques known as "pranayama." However,
there is so much more to yoga than the physical practice!
Why Yoga?
Yoga is so
much more than a sequence of physical postures. Sure, you'll gain flexibility
and strength. Most likely you'll feel the best you've ever felt in your entire
life. However, the true gift of yoga is the creation of a connection between
mind, body, and breath. With this beautiful connection we're able to direct our
attention inward; experiencing an enhanced awareness of the present moment.
Yoga cultivates an internal balance and a sense of being grounded, which leads
to new confidence and a joy for living!
